Welcome to Friels Historic Bar & Restaurant
The traditional Irish Bar and Restaurant nestled in the heart of the South Derry countryside in the picturesque village of Swatragh.
Friels Bar and Restaurant is currently run by the fifth generation of the Friel family. The bar has been in the family name for over one hundred years. In the public bar, you will get a real feel of the old world, with pictures and memorabilia of bygone times. Our roaring log fire in winter makes Friels a cosy place to spend an evening.
Historically, Friels was used as a soup kitchen during the Great Famine in 1840s. Visit our famine corner, home to our original famine pot, a must-see on route to the Causeway coast!
We are a pub that takes pride in serving you in the style of a traditional Irish pub whilst giving you the service you expect from a quality restaurant.
